Neighbourhoods
Explore Our Neighbourhood.
Cardiff’s story unfolds as soon as you step outside of our hotel – from the Big Bang to the Ice Age at the National Museum Cardiff, through medieval heritage at Cardiff Castle, to the WWII air raid shelters in its underground tunnels. A quick cab ride away on the redeveloped Cardiff Bay waterfront, innovative contemporary buildings like the Welsh Senedd sit near the former docks at Tiger Bay, where coal was shipped out during the Industrial Revolution. You can experience Wales’ proud musical traditions at the Wales Millennium Centre, and catch gigs at St. David's Hall, moments from our front door. Cardiff’s best shopping centres are all a short walk away, while the passionate fans at the Principality Stadium are within earshot of our roof terrace, so you can hear their roar on match days.

Pettigrew Tea Rooms
A tiny café with big ambitions, this cosy café resides in the picturesque west lodge at the entrance to leafy Bute park, serving freshly brewed coffee, but most of all known for their bakes and cakes. They're so scrumptious that we've partnered with them to provide specialist breads and fresh Danish pastries for breakfast daily.
Bar 44
True love for Spanish Food, inspired the two local brothers Owen and Tom to open this cool bar that surely packs a flavoursome punch. Soak up the lively atmosphere under an arched ceiling, while watching the chefs in action in the “La Despensa” or the show kitchen, preparing your Tapas. The bar is the perfect spot for a light dinner or just a great drink.
Anna-Loka
You can find Cardiff's first completely vegan diner in the bohemian residential suburb of Roath. This welcoming, laid-back restaurant serves up a sumptuous spread of inventive dishes, made using local, seasonal and organic produce. It all goes to show, you don't need meat or fish in a dish to make a tasty, nutritious meal.
Cardiff Castle
Steps from the hotel, Cardiff Castle soars above lush parkland and the River Taff. You can relive the dreams of its wealthy 19th-century owners as you drift through lavish Gothic apartments brimming with ornate carvings, sparkling stained glass and cool marble, and climb the Norman Keep for a view over the city that inspired it all.
Cardiff City Hall
Five minutes’ stroll from our hotel, Cardiff City Hall, built from gleaming Portland stone, is flanked by fountains and landscaped gardens. Its domed roof and soaring clock tower make it one of the city's most exuberant buildings, while inside, statues of Welsh heroes stand beneath the stained glass of its impressive Marble Hall.
Principality Stadium
Just along Castle Street, you can join 80,000 fans to soak up the passionate atmosphere at the home of Welsh sport. Match days fill the air with song, and you can walk out our hotel to the roar of the crowd on a stadium tour. Look out too for the world’s top bands – The Rolling Stones, Madonna and Beyonce have all played here.
National Museum Cardiff
The magnificent Grand Hall beneath the huge dome of the National Museum is a fitting place to start a journey through 500 years of European art. Stroll across City Hall Lawn to discover everything from old masters to a fantastic collection of Impressionist and modern works and a treasure trove of delicate Welsh porcelain.
Wales Millennium Centre
With its futuristic design and Welsh poetry inscribed proudly on its facade, the iconic Wales Millennium Centre is the focal point of the revamped Cardiff Bay docklands. Visit to enjoy a wide-ranging programme of musical drama, classic opera and ballet in its 3 theatres, as well as more contemporary music and dance.
Motorpoint Arena Cardiff
There’s nothing like the thrill of a big gig, and the list of stars to have graced the stage here reads like a who's who of rock music and stand-up comedy. Past visitors include local heroes Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey, and the wide, 5000-seat arena perfectly balances a feeling of intimacy with a great party vibe.
Glee Cardiff
Glee's intimate auditorium keeps everyone close to the stage, and the electric atmosphere makes it one of Cardiff Bay’s best-loved venues. Top comedians strut their stuff at the weekend, or you might catch a show by an up-and-coming rock band. Cocktails, craft beers and a tempting menu ensure that you can really make a night of it.
Womanby Street
An eclectic hub of live music venues and bars alike, Womanby Street traces its name back to the Old Norse language, meaning "huntsman's dwelling". This street once linked the Castle to the Quay. It's always been a place of merriment or consumption of ale, and continues to be today. Check out Clwb Ifor Bach for some homegrown bands.
