Hotel Indigo Dundee
Jam, Jute & Journalism
Boutique Hotel Indigo® Dundee brings the city’s jute-spinning past back to life with its bold, minimalist design. Set in a former textile mill with a landmark bell tower, our hotel reflects its industrial heritage with bare-brick walls, hardwood timber floors and simple, pendant lighting. Bespoke fabrics and antique furnishings in our elegant guest rooms reference the city’s historic linen trade. As you spoil yourself with spa products in our white-tiled bathrooms or sit back with River Tay views in a suite, superfast WiFi soon reconnects you with reality.
After exploring nearby attractions like V&A Dundee, settle back at the bar with a malt whisky. At night, order a locally sourced steak in our Daisy Tasker restaurant or explore Dundee’s city-centre theatres, bars and gourmet eateries.

Explore Our Neighbourhood.
Dundee celebrates its industrial past in our riverside neighbourhood, where jute mills stood side by side with factories and the docks were filled with trading ships. The Victorian prosperity of our city is reflected in the theatres overlooking the River Tay and showcased by historic vessels in dry dock along the waterfront.
Today, long after the Industrial Revolution, Dundee flourishes again. Where once it grew rich on milling, maritime trade and printing, now the city thrives on its visitor attractions, and the long-anticipated opening of the spectacular V&A Dundee museum adds a final touch to the area’s rebirth. Our hotel story begins here. While offering you every contemporary comfort, you’ll notice that many features of our hotel’s interior reflect its proud manufacturing heritage.
Daisy Tasker
In our bar and bistro we celebrate the neighbourhood, with our from round here menu. Our chefs have Scotland's best larder on their doorstep, world class Beef, game, seafood and soft fruits. They know when to keep a dish simple and when to add a dash of inspiration. Our bar is no different expect local beers, gins, rums and inspired cocktails. We are grateful to the AA for the award of two rosettes.
Tea and Cake
Kick back in the lobby and take in the industrial heritage of our city displayed on our neighbourhood wall expect tributes to Dundee's diverse industries from Gaming to Cash registers. Each day our talented chefs produce homestyle cakes, pasties and biscuits for you to wash down with a cuppie as we say in Dundee!
Beer in The Neighbourhood
Just like in our own Daisy Tasker when looking for craft beer in Dundee you're spoilt for choice, Innis and Gunn, Brewdog and The St Andrews Brewary all craft beer pubs with-in walking distance of the hotel. These three are firm favorites amongst our team and come highly recommended
Collinson’s Restaurant
Yorkshire-born chef Stephen Collinson is a Dundee legend. Book ahead to eat in his elegant, subtly lit dining room in seaside Broughty Ferry – the perfect spot for romantic evenings à deux or a birthday surprise. Tuck into the well-priced, two-course lunch menu or pair a tender beef fillet with a quality red Malbec at dinner.
V&A Dundee
A gentle stroll from the hotel, this world-class museum is the long-awaited Scottish offshoot of London’s V&A and adds a futuristic landmark to Dundee’s rejuvenated waterfront. Behind the flowing lines of architect Kengo Kuma’s boat-shaped gallery you’ll find the best of Scottish design, from dazzling diamond jewellery to clan tartans.
RRS Discovery and HMS Unicorn
Dundee once ranked among the richest shipbuilding cities in the world. Celebrate our maritime heritage aboard Captain Scott’s RRS Discovery, whose 3 masts and wooden hull loom proud over the River Tay waterfront at Discovery Point. Step back in time among 4 decks of Naval displays on the Georgian-era warship, Unicorn.
The McManus
Behind its ornate, Gothic Revival façade, the fascinating McManus gallery offers a colourful romp through centuries of Tayside history. Look out for ancient log boats unearthed from the River Tay, warts-and-all portraits by Scottish artist Henry Raeburn, and the huge skeleton of the Tay Whale, a reminder of the city’s whaling past.
Dolphin Tours
Dundee’s relationship with the Tay has defined the city, and now dolphins are part of the river’s story too. Hop on a boat at Broughty Ferry pier to explore the estuary. Look out for slumbering grey seals on the sands of Tentsmuir Nature Reserve and – if you’re lucky – spot pods of playful bottlenose dolphins leaping through the waves.
Slessor Gardens
Grab tickets for packed, big-name concerts at Dundee’s open-air venue on the waterfront, featuring headliners such as Rita Ora and The Pretenders. In summer, there’s al fresco fun at music and food festivals, plus pocket-sized themed gardens to explore. If you’re here in winter, stock up on festive treats at the Christmas Market.
Caird Hall
Grand, colonnaded Caird Hall is renowned for its superb acoustics. Take a seat in the plush, red-velvet auditorium for concerts by heavyweight rock bands or classical masterpieces from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. A jam-packed annual schedule also features comedy, ballet performances, hit musicals and classic films.
Dundee Repertory Theatre
Bathed in rainbow lights by night, the Rep Theatre is Dundee’s home of hard-hitting drama, courtesy of its stellar Rep Ensemble. Pushing the boundaries of avant-garde dance, the Scottish Dance Theatre also performs in this simple, unadorned space. Meet for lunch in the brasserie or sip pre-show cocktails at the bar.
Dundee Contemporary Arts
Stop by this glass-fronted, ultra-modern cultural centre to catch art-house films or cult classics in 2 cosy cinemas. You’ll meet the next generation of local artists at revolving exhibitions of sculpture and painting in its light-flooded galleries, and if you fancy a beer, the Jute Café Bar is a handy pre-movie pit stop.
